“Milk in soda is gross, but ice cream in soda is good”

Is milk in soda a proper beverage? “Milk in soda is gross, but ice cream in soda is good” was posted on Reddit—Showerthoughts on May 14, 2020.

Some have pointed out Milkis (a South Korean beverage) and Calpis Soda (a Japanese beverage).

Wikipedia: Milkis
Milkis (Korean: 밀키스) is a soft drink produced by Lotte Chilsung, a South Korean beverage company. It combines many of the common elements of traditional carbonated beverages such as sugar, and carbonated water with milk to create a creamy taste; its label proclaims “New feeling of soda beverage”.

Wikipedia: Calpis
Calpis (カルピス, Karupisu) is a Japanese uncarbonated soft drink, manufactured by Calpis Co., Ltd. (カルピス株式会社, Karupisu Kabushiki-gaisha), headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo. Calpis Co. is a subsidiary of Asahi. The beverage has a light, somewhat milky, and slightly acidic flavor, similar to plain or vanilla flavored yogurt or Yakult. Its ingredients include water, nonfat dry milk and lactic acid, and is produced by lactic acid fermentation.

The drink is sold as a concentrate which is mixed with water or sometimes milk just before consumption. A pre-diluted version known as Calpis Water (カルピスウォーター, Karupisu Wōtā), or its carbonated variety, known as Calpis Soda (カルピスソーダ, Karupisu Sōda), are also available.

It’s called Milkis and it doesn’t taste much like milk at all but it’s also just not my thing. People usually drink it after eating spicy food in Korea.

I think you’re referring to Calpis. You get more of the soda than the dairy taste, but you do get a bit of the dairy texture in the drink.
