“Most people wearing the Che Guevara shirt would have been killed by Che Guevara”

An image of Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, writer, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist Ernesto “Che” Guevara (1928-1967) was made by Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick in 1968. Many people wear this image on T-shirts, believing it to be a symbol of freedom and justice.

“MOST PEOPLE WEARING THE CHE GUEVARA SHIRT ...WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY CHE GUEVARA” (shown on an image) was posted on Facebook by The Atlas Society on October 12, 2019.

Wikipedia: Che Guevara
Ernesto “Che” Guevara (Spanish: [ˈtʃe ɣeˈβaɾa]; 14 June 1928 – 9 October 1967) was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, writer, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist. A major figure of the Cuban Revolution, his stylized visage has become a ubiquitous countercultural symbol of rebellion and global insignia in popular culture.

Despite this polarized status, a high-contrast monochrome graphic of Che’s face, created in 1968 by Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick, became a universally merchandized and objectified image, found on an endless array of items, including T-shirts, hats, posters, tattoos, and bikinis, contributing to the consumer culture Guevara despised.

All the people who wear Che shirts would have been killed or imprisoned by Che. Che was also an admitted racist but that doesn’t seem to matter either.
