Wait-a-Burger (Whataburger nickname)

Whataburger is a fast food restaurant (specializing in hamburgers, such as the “Whataburger") that began in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. Some critics claim that Whataburger takes longer than other “fast food” restaurants.

The Whataburger nickname “Wait-a-Burger” (or “Waitaburger") has been cited in print since at least 1996.

Wikipedia: Whataburger
Whataburger is a privately held, regional fast food restaurant specializing in hamburgers. The company, established by Harmon Dobson, opened its first restaurant in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 8, 1950. By 1960 the chain had grown to 17 locations in Texas, Tennessee and Florida. Today, Whataburger Restaurants, LP is still owned and operated by the Dobson family and has nearly 700 locations in the United States (Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia). Operations in Mexico have currently been suspended. The corporate headquarters was in Corpus Christi, Texas until a move to San Antonio in 2009.

Whataburger is known for its distinctive A-framed, orange-and-white striped roofed buildings (newer buildings are built similar to other fast-food chains, though the roof is built in the orange-and-white triangular shape). The first A-frame restaurant, which is still standing, was built in Odessa, Texas. There are currently over a dozen of these type restaurants still in operation.

It never fails. Every time I go to Whataburger, the wait in the drive-thru is rather ridiculous. I mean, I have time to get out of my car and check the fluids and tire pressure thoroughly, before making it to the window. At any rate, this logo is a tribute to Whataburger and its wait time.

Don’t forget the chicken fingers!  Waitaburger even has good gravy to dip them in....

All they have to recommend them is being open 24 hours.

What can I say about Whataburger…

Well around here almost every location I have been to seems to be the same thing....SLOW! I know almost any fast food restaurant you go to there is always a wait, but I think that Whataburger takes the cake for slowness.

ETA: What-A-Burger = Wait-A-Burger since they take so long.

Our Krystal (here in Beaumont) closed last year.
While in Cali. - I’ll go for a Fatburger or Tommy’s but In-n-Out is everywhere and better than what we have here.
Waitaburger is always slow.
Del Taco doesn’t have their “Macho combo burrito”?
That was from Naugles and quite tasty.

That’s like most Fridays and Saturday nights for my friends. Damn alcohol, giving us the munchies
Both McDonalds and Whataburger (Wait-a-burger as its called here) can have like thirteen cars in line at 3 AM due to the plants letting out.
