“Hire character. Train skill”

“Hire character, train skill” is a saying that has been printed on many posters. “Hire character, train skill” has been credited since 2005 to former Porsche CEO and motivational speaker Peter W. Schutz, but it’s uncertain when he first said it.
The saying means that, most importantly, one should hire people with good character; skill can and should be trained.
“Hire for attitude, train for skills” is a similar saying.
Wikipedia: Peter Schutz
Peter W. Schutz (born April 20, 1930) was the president and CEO of Porsche between 1981 and 1986, a time in which the company greatly expanded sales, primarily in the United States. Today he is a motivational speaker and co-founder of Harris and Schutz Inc., with his wife Sheila Harris-Schutz.
